Germany finally gets the new Doctor Who. Pro 7 http://www.prosieben.de purchased Series 1 and 2 years ago, and has now found room in their schedule for the adventures of the Time Lord. Rose will air tonight, Saturday 26 January at 5PM CET, followed by Das Ende Der Welt (The End Of The World) at 6:10PM CET. The rest of Series 1 and 2 will air at 2 episodes per week from 2 February. Here's hoping for a big splash with German audiences leading to a shorter lag time before Series 3 and 4 make it over.

Adventures has been picked up for a second series. She will be
starring in 24 half hour episodes that begin filming later this year.
Congratulations. Now, if we can just get the show to appear in more
countries.

Canadian fans - The Sarah Jane Adventures are premiering Sunday
nights on BBC Kids http://www.bbckids.ca . Complete stories are
airing in 90 minute blocks at 9PM EST/6PM PST and 4AM EST/1AM PST.
This weekend - Eye Of The Gorgon. BBC Kids is also the Canadian
source for classic Doctor Who late Saturdays and Sundays.

USA - BBC America http://www.bbcamerica.com is starting their run of
Doctor Who Series 3 tonight at 7PM EST/4PM PST and Torchwood Series 2
(USA Premiere) at 9PM EST/6PM PST. See Torchwood This Week for the
Torchwood details. For Doctor Who fans, this is the Runaway Bride
episode and the Martha Jones episodes that ran on SciFi from July to
October 2007 (SciFi is also rerunning these episodes at 5AM EST
Fridays right now).

With the notable exception of The Runaway Bride, you can expect these
episodes to be more complete than the SciFi versions. SciFi was
cutting to get episodes to 44 minutes in an hour. BBC America is
getting episodes to 46 minutes in an hour. Since the next time
trailers will be remade and run during the closing credits, only The
Runaway Bride and Last Of The Time Lords should be edited on BBC
America, while most of the Series 3 episodes were edited on SciFi
(Runway Bride ran full length in a 90 minute timeslot).

For the 2 episodes where editing is expected:
The Runaway Bride (January 26 and repeats) - 60 minute episode being
edited to 46 minutes to allow for commercials. Frankly, it will be
brutal.
Last Of The Time Lords (April 19 [tentative] and repeats) - expect
the BBC's 45 minute International Version of this episode to be used,
like SciFi. However, SciFi was cutting the show down to 44 minutes,
so you should still see a scene or two on BBC America that you did
not see on SciFi. The full length version is on the Series 3 DVD set.

BBC America aired Series 1 in the intended 16:9 aspect ratio
(letterbox). BBC America cropped Series 2 to 4:3 aspect ratio
(fullscreen), even though the episodes were only intended to air in
16:9 or 14:9 and you lose important details. Hopefully BBC America
will air Series 3 in 16:9, though we should be braced for the
prospect of 4:3. SciFi's versions air in 16:9 (letterbox).
